Nothing too exciting happening in the Shelton household at the moment but I had to share this little write up on Mike. Click here to read the article. He's famous!! Well....maybe not famous yet, but he looks really official in this picture!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

So I have been pretty bad at keeping up with the blog lately. I will try to get better in 2012! We have had a great year...
  • My sister got married!
  • Mike turned 30!!
  • I ran 4 marathons and 1 half marathon.
  • Went to Talladega. (Mike stayed in a RV, while I drove back and forth!)
  • Survived the Alabama tornadoes!!
  • Mike's sister and my brother graduated from high school!
  • Mike finished his anesthesia residency and started his cardiothoracic anesthesia fellowship.
  • Said good-bye to most of our friends here in Birmingham as they spread out across the county when residency ended. :(
  • Took a week long vacation to Hope Town, Bahamas. (With an AWESOME group of friends!)
  • Spent a weekend in Orange Beach, AL.
  • Old Blue (Mike's truck) died and Whitey (new Tahoe) came into our family! BTW....we LOVE the new car!!!
  • Took a trip to Chapel Hill, TN for the Super Pull of the South.
  • Mike accepted an attending physician position at UAB, which will start in July 2012.
  • We traveled to 4 football games! (We stick together in all kinds of weather!)
  • I spent a weekend in Vegas!!
Looking forward to what 2012 has in store! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas and a great new year!!

Every Dawg Has His Day

We made it to Jacksonville for FL/GA. This is one of those games that we pretty much never miss!! As I'm uploading photos, I realize I didn't take very many pictures. It started out rainy then got windy and cold, so to keep warm we continued to drink!! Hence, the lack of photos!

Tebowing started early that day.
 Lisa, MK, and me
This explains the lack of photos!! I swear there was plenty of food, lots of games, and tons of people. We even have our own port-a-potty for this tailgate!! (I'll try to document better next year!!!)

Once again, not a stellar outcome for our Gators, but good seats!

I have to end with this AWESOME picture of Mike! After the game, we had a dance party at the the tailgate. It makes everyone feel better after a horrible game!!

Ramma Jamma Alabama

Last minute we decided to drive down to Gainesville for the Alabama game. Some of my dad's friends come up and join our tailgate a couple of games a year. After living in Alabama the past 4 years, I want to beat the crap out of them every year. However, this was definitely not our year!! Oh well, the tailgate was fun though!
This was just the beginning of our barbecuing. We had 24 slabs of ribs, 36 sausages, 12 chickens, and 8 pork butts!

The Chefs--dad, Henderson, and Turk
(Turk now sells his AWESOME sauces, Turk's Barbecue Hall of Flame)

The girls behind the tailgate--me, MK, Malory, Kelly, Kristin
Brit (Mike's med school buddy) and Mike
Me and Cassie (college roommate)

Our seats were great! Outcome was not!

It was SO great to make it down to Gainesville this year. Hopefully there will be more trips in the future!! Go Gators!!
